Frequently Asked Questions

How long does dyed mulch last in comparison to non-dyed mulch?
Color-enhanced mulch will usually maintain its color through an entire growing season, while non-dyed mulch could begin to fade in as little as four weeks.

Is the mulch treated with any chemicals?
No, all Foster Bros. mulch is produced from virgin wood. Our color-enhanced mulch is painted with bio-degradable iron oxide and is completely safe for plants and animals.

Does Foster Bros. use recycled wood?
Our mulch is produced using only virgin materials from the sawmill industry. No pallets or packing materials, which could contain pesticides or industrial additives, are used in our products.

Should I mulch in the spring or fall?
Spring is the primary season, purely for aesthetics, moisture retention, and weed barrier. Fall mulching protects the plant and root system by keeping soil warmer during winter months.

What states are covered by Foster Bros. delivery system?
Our large fleet of company-owned trucks delivers to Missouri and all surrounding states. However we will quote to others interested in our products anywhere in the U.S. or abroad.
